Sermon: Paul's Letter to American Christians. Six integral pages, 6" x 9", Montgomery, November 4, 1956. "A Sermon Preached in the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church By The Minister Martin Luther King. Jr." Dr. King here preaches humility by using an imaginary letter written to American's by the Apostle Paul. [and:] [Lillian E. Smith]. Copy of a Speech: The Right Way is not a Moderate Way. Twelve pages, 8.5" x 11", Montgomery, December 5, 1956. Given on the first anniversary of the Montgomery Improvement Association, author and civil rights activist Lillian Smith begins "I want to take my stand by your side . . . because I respect the creative means you have chosen to use to secure your legal rights as American citizens. These means are nonviolent. This way is the way of good will and intelligence and truth, and love. You have refused to use the crude and dangerous weapon of hate. You have refused to lie. You have not succumbed to retaliation or to resentment." Lillian Eugenia Smith (1897-1966) was a southern author who was openly critical of segregation and the Jim Crow laws of the time.

Folded out to an overall size of 8" x 8.75". Issue number thirty-nine, 21 pages. Published by The Adult Education Council of Greater Chicago. Gives a short biography of Dr. King on page 10.
