    Description

[Battle of Fredericksburg]. Union Soldier Henry Kauffman Jr. [?] Autograph Letter Signed. Four integral pages, 5" x 8", Hilton Head [South Carolina], December 14, 1862. Writing to a fellow soldier, Kauffman relates that word has reached them of a battle near Fredericksburg, Virginia, in part: "There is a Steamer expected in to day from New York. Hope it may get here as we are anxious to hear from Burnside's army it is rumored here coming from the Rebels that there has been a severe Battle fought near Fredericksburg in which they (the Rebels) were severely beaten hope it may prove true but am inclined to doubt it at present." On the contrary, Fredericksburg proved to be a great victory for the Southern army. Areas of light staining. Folds.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
