[Battle of Corinth]. Autograph Letter From Union Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Charles Ducat to Major General Edward O. C. Ord. Two integral pages, 7.75" x 10", Corinth, Mississippi, September 3, 1862. In this letter Lt. Col. Ducat informs Ord that he has repositioned the pickets north of Corinth "with consideration to marauders." Ducat also reports that he's arrested 12 men (some soldiers) for marauding. Each man's name appears and a few have notations by their names such as "with arms", "arrested inside lines", and "with sacks of peaches". The paper is somewhat toned and there is a chip and split in one of the folds, otherwise the letter is bright, legible and in fine condition.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
