    Description

"BASEBALL MAGAZINE" - RUTH AND GEHRIG. As supplements to their venerated periodical, Baseball Magazine provided readers with luxuriant photos of prominent ballplayers.  The practice was a tradition for over forty years, and these inserts always featured contemporary celebrities - usually selected for timely on-field heroics.  Because they were loose inserts and undated, determining the exact vintage of any is impossible.  However, in the course of that genre (now identified as M114), there appeared these offered photos of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.  The gloriously literal detail projected by these supplements humbles the imagery provided by Goudeys, candy cards and the like.  Given that the Gehrig piece has a minor printer's line, both of these are EX/MT-NM with very light corner wear.
