"BABE RUTH" PENCIL CASE. We present this little implement as a 'Babe Ruth' memento, but in fact, it's a vintage 'wanabe' (without paying a licensing fee).  On the fringes of the law, Madison Avenue (and other ne'er-do-wells) schemed phantom endorsements which were patently unsanctioned.  This pencil holder typifies the practice.  It's a two-piece affair with a wooden handle (crudely, a bat handle) plugging a firm cardboard tube, thus providing portable storage for school-level writing instruments.  The maker identified the piece as "Babe's Base Ball Bat" with no image or name of Ruth to be found.  The graphics, as well as the term 'baseball' appearing as two words, suggest that it was marketed early in Ruth's career.  It's 12" long and about an inch in diameter.  Minor, but highly competent, restoration is evident on the label (which circumvents the tube) to apparent EX condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
