    [Abraham Lincoln]. Report. Young Men's Republican Union. Wide Awakes. Four-page bifolium, 8.5" x 11", New York, November 5, 1860. Leading up to the presidential election of 1860, there were a number of Northern paramilitary groups aligned with the Republican Party, referred to as Wide Awakes. One such group, the Young Men's Republican Union, released this report the day before the 1860 election as "a statement of the work it has done."

    Including topics ranging from lectures, including those given by John Sherman, brother of William T. Sherman, Congressman Francis P. Blair and abolitionist Cassius M. Clay to the initial organization of the Wide Awakes, specifically mentioning a group called the "Rail Splitters" attending the "dedication of a Republican Wigwam." Also covers meeting attendance, finance and the speeches circulated by Lincoln and Charles Sumner. Broken down in to six roman-numbered articles, and naming the Officers of the Union, Executive Committee and Advisory Board on the back page.

    Condition: Quadruple folds, with a crease in the upper right corner. Little aging of any type.
