    [1860 Presidential Election] Two Copies of the Daily Louisville Democrat Newspaper. The first, four pages, measuring 21.25" x 29.25", dated July 18, 1860, features articles on the front page regarding presidential candidates John C. Breckinridge, at the time vice president, and his political record and the nomination of Stephen A. Douglas and Hershel V. Johnson "by the National Democratic party...for President and Vice President of these United States..." Page two features an advertisement for the Democratic Convention to be held in Louisville on August 11, 1860. Also contains period advertisements.

    The second, four pages, measuring 21.25" x 29.25", dated September 19, 1860, featuring an article dissecting the speech of presidential nominee and vice president John C. Breckenridge, a extract of a speech by Secretary of the Navy Isaac Toucey, given in 1854 on popular sovereignty. Of note is an article on the political state of Texas extracted from the New Orleans True Delta which reads, in part: "We are in receipt of most encouraging news from Texas. The Nullifiers are not to be allowed to take that noble State to the camp of disunion..."Period articles.

    Both papers are evenly toned and dampstained, but the text is unaffected.
