    Description

The Atlantic Charter: A Historic Ship's Menu Signed by FDR, Churchill and Other Prominent Attendees.
When the two heads of state met off Newfoundland aboard the U.S.S. Augusta on August 9, 1941, the United States had not yet entered the war. However, the cooperative understanding reached at that meeting set the country towards an inevitable involvement in the war.

On the page facing the menu there is a printed list of each dignitary present and each has autographed it with a bold mint ink signature. At the top are Roosevelt & Churchill and below are Americans Sumner Welles (Assistant Secretary of State), Admiral Harold Stark (Chief of Naval Operations), General George C. Marshall (Chief of Staff), Admiral Ernest King (Commander-in-Chief of the Atlantic Fleet), Major General Harold "Hap" Arnold (Chief of Air Corps), Harry Hopkins and Averill Harriman (presidential advisors). Also signing are all the key British counterparts, including the Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Admiral of the Fleet, Chief of the Imperial General Staff and Air Chief Marshall.

This historic relic is in outstanding condition and surely ranks as one of the most important & desirable autographed items from World War II. Measures 14" x 9" when open. Please note that a flag from the U.S.S. Augusta is also offered in this auction.
