    Memorabilia Belonging To Captain Kenneth L. Morgan USN Group of US Navy items belonging to Captain Kenneth L. Morgan. Consists of standard US Navy officers' sword made by E & F Horster, Solingen in excellent condition with mint condition engraved blade. Captain Morgan's medals, insignia and various effects are also included which consist of: 1) cased Legion of Merit Legionnaire grade medal; 2) Two cased Navy & Marine Corps Commendation medals, one with a "V" for valor on the ribbon, full wrap broach 3) Navy Expert Pistol Shot and US Navy Expert Rifleman; 4) Two National Defense, two Armed Forces Expeditionary Service and Vietnam service medals; 5) Mounted bar which consists of: American Defense, China Service and WWII Victory medals and three empty medal boxes; 6) 9" Hospital Corps stainless pitcher; 7) partially filled treated canvas first aid kit; 8) pair of 1945 dated 6 X 30 Canadian military binoculars with clear lenses in a 1942 dated canvas case in excellent condition; 9) three pairs of US Navy Dental Corps Captain Shoulder Boards; 10) group of Navy brass uniform buttons; and 10) a large group of mounted and single ribbon bars and various US Navy officers hat badges and collar insignia.
    Captain Kenneth Morgan was a 1941 graduate of the Ohio State School of Dentistry. He joined the Navy on January 29, 1942 and was attached to the First Marine Division as a Regimental Dentist. He participated in the Guadalcanal Invasion and subsequent campaigns before malaria and dysentery forced him to be sent stateside to the San Diego Naval Hospital for recovery. Upon recovery he spent time stationed at the hospital until assigned to the USS Duluth (CL-87) in 1945. When the Korean War broke out, he was sent to the Naval Station Dental Clinic on Guam where he did dental work on Korean War casualties. He served in Vietnam in 1966/67 as the 3rd MAF Dental Officer in Danang. Upon completion of this overseas deployment, he was transferred to the Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in North Carolina as the Commanding Officer of the Dental Clinic where he remained until his retirement on 1 July 1974.
