    Comprehensive Archive of the Allied Military Government of Occupied Territory (AMGOT) Correspondence, and Other Ephemera Related to the Allied Occupation of Italy Collected by Paul Moriconi, Secretary to Charles Poletti. An incredible collection of literally hundreds of original documents related to the Allied Occupation of Italy after WWII. The archive includes letters of correspondence to Colonel Charles Poletti from important political and military personnel including FDR, Rabbi Zolli, J.R. Pollock, B. Rabin, D. Acheson and others; the Vatican, civilian inquiries on missing relatives, repatriation of refugees, the restoration of Rome and Milan, the Ardeatine Massacre, the Vincenzo Azzolini trial, the Italian black market, transportation, assorted booklets and pamphlets on the Allied Military Government of Italy. The collection is essentially the files kept by Moriconi on all business conducted by the Allied Military Government and represent a plethora of important primary historical information for the writer, researcher or collector of WWII history. Files have been organized by subject and contained in individual file folders. Colonel Charles Poletti was the senior American officer in the Allied Military Government of Occupied Territory (AMGOT). Prior to this assignment, Poletti had been a special assistant to Secretary of War, Henry L. Stimson, and before that, Lieutenant Governor and then Governor of New York. Paul Moriconi was his secretary while top administrator and it was he who assembled this extensive archive. The collection includes bios on the two men as well as many other related items.
    Condition: All are good to excellent with age wear and minor discoloration.
