WWII Japanese Navy and Army Kyu-Gunto Swords. There were many variations of kyu-gunto swords. This lot includes an army and navy version sharing some similarity of design. Includes (1) Naval version with 22" un-fullered blade, wire-wrapped leather grips, and brass guard. An large anchor mark is present on the grip near the pommel. The metal scabbard is similarly adorned just above the drag. The blade is excellent though rusted at the tip. The leather on the grip is crazed and slightly shrunken, otherwise the sword is generally in very good condition. (2) Army version with 24" fullered bright blade, ray skin grip missing the wire wrapping, brass guard with typical chrysanthemum adornment and a painted metal scabbard. The blade remains bright, under a light coating of cosmoline, with a few nicks on the cutting edge and is in otherwise very good condition. This sword comes with a cotton canvas hanger designed for a bayonet but is included in this "as found" state.
