You- Buy A Liberty Bond 30" x 20" Artist: C.R. Macauley. Printed to promote the First Liberty Loan. This is the only First Liberty Loan poster in the entire sale! The loan was conducted in April of 1917, immediately after war had been declared. The country had been given a goal to raise $546,300 and a total of $601,400 was raised! This image prefigures the posters by Pennell and Raleigh. While still slightly cartoon-like in appearance, it conveyed its message with a sense of urgency. Liberty's eyes are wide and deadlocked on the viewer. Normally an unemotional and resolute image, a concerned and even slightly demanding Liberty is very striking and powerful. This poster cannot afford to be left out of any collection!

Condition-Fine; edges show normal wear, pencil marks on left edge, stickers on verso need removal before damage occurs.
