WWI American-French Aviators Presentation Letter and Charles Lindbergh Congratulatory Telegram to Philip N. Bush, Lafayette Escadrille Pilot. Philip Nelson Bush was a pilot in the famed Lafayette Escadrille. This lot includes: (1) A one page partially printed letter on "American Aviation. Aviation Française" letterhead, dated December 5, 1918, thanking Lt. Bush for his service in the French Air Service and presenting him with a copy of the record of the pilots and observers composing the American Aviation, Aviation Française. The letter is signed by Pierre Boal, the American Air Service liaison to the American Aviation, Aviation Française, and himself a former Lafayette Escadrille pilot. The paper has toned slightly and there a few trivial stains and old fold creases, otherwise it is in very good condition. (2) An undated telegram, 8¼" x 8", on a printed French telegram form, congratulating Major and Mrs. Bush on their recent [April, 1937] marriage. The telegram reads: "Anne joins in our sincere congratulations and every wish/ for happiness/ Slim Lindbergh". The telegram indicates a "Burma" station origination and is sent to the Hotel Salisbury in New York City. Lindbergh and Bush formed a friendship through mutual friends who were former pilots in the Lafayette Escadrille. Our current auction has a book presented to Bush and signed by Lindbergh and several pilots of the Escadrille. The telegram is slightly brittle, with some splits in the fold creases, but is otherwise in very good condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
