World World One Posters. He Is Driving Them Back 28"x 22" Artist: unsigned. Printed for the Liberty Loan Committee. This poster, done in black and white, depicts an American soldiers kneel down firing his machine gun at enemy trenches. This is one of the many black and white, simply drawn images, used to show Americans what soldiers and Huns were doing overseas. They showed everything from a Prussian hand crushing Notre Dame to the sinking of the Lusitania. These posters helped spread valuable fear and propaganda. Their place in the information flow history is large. Perfect for any collection. Very fine condition with minor edge wear and one corner tear.
Emergency Fleet Bulletins 25" x 19" This includes four volumes of the Emergency Fleet Bulletin; Volumes 1, 2, 3, and 6. These were illustrated news broadsides which gave information on the shipping industry and naval portions of the war. Volume 1 candidly features Uncle Sam pulling a fleet of ships over to Germany. The Fleet Corporation was organized just ten days after the United States declared war, with a capital stock of $50,000,000, all of which was subscribed for by the United States Shipping Board. All this money was used to build, intern, and send ships over to Europe for the war effort. These bulletins were simply newsletters which let the public know just how massive our manufacturing power was. A great piece of shipping industry and war history! Vol. #1 has a 9" vertical tear at the bottom and some border loss at the bottom. Vol. #2 has a 2.5" vertical tear at the bottom with some border loss at the bottom. Vol. #3 has 9" and 5" vertical tears at the bottom with a 3" loss at the bottom border. Vol. #6 has a 16" vertical tear at the top with a 3.5" loss to the right border.
