USMC Model 1875 Noncommissioned Officers' Sword and Marine Officers' Mameluke, Circa 1930. Two handsome Marine Corps swords including: (1) A rare Model 1875 Marine NCO sword with a 29½" long bright stainless steel Solingen-made blade, etched on both sides with floral designs and "United States Marines", and bearing a Hilborn & Hamburger distributor's mark. The brass hilt displays a high degree of detail and the grip is complete with the original wire wrap. The leather-wrapped metal scabbard shows light wear and overall the sword is in excellent condition. The sword is based on the Model 1850 Foot Officers' sword and is not commonly encountered. (2) A nice Marine Corps officers' Mameluke identified to John D. Bratten. The sword is etched with the Hilborn & Hamburger distributor's mark and has the typical floral and patriotic etching on the blade. The top of the blade is engraved "USMC Serial No. 323". The blade is bright, brass hilt has tarnished somewhat and the plating on the scabbard is just starting to flake. Otherwise the swords is in very good condition, with the original leather sword knot. This identified sword is a perfect candidate for further research.
