    Description

That Liberty Shall Not Perish From the Earth. 30" x 40", Artist: Joseph Pennell. This is the most well documented poster of the entire collection produced during the war. Joseph Pennell, wrote a book called The Liberty Loan Poster, A Text Book for Amateurs, which documented the entire process in producing this famed poster. Pennell was known for his architectural drawings, and he combined this skill with excellent imagery to create one of the most poignant pieces to be produced during the war. The Statue of Liberty stands amongst a burning mass of rubble as planes fly overhead dropping more bombs on American citizens. This was a real fear for Americans and this poster played on those emotions in order to produce a greater outpouring of support.

Condition: Extra Fine - near-mint condition; yellowed slightly, as is common on the lower quality stock paper version of this poster;linen backed.
