    Rare Colt's Firearms Financial Ledger For the Period June 1908 to June 1910. 12.5" x 17.25" leather bound ledger marked "Colt's P.F.A. Mfg. Co." on the spine, containing 499 numbered ledger pages with columns marked "Miscel.", "Arms", "Discount" and "Accounts Payable". This is a fantastic peek into the financial records of Colt's Firearms in the early years of the last century, chronicling entry by entry the minutiae of daily business operations but liberally sprinkled with intriguing historical tidbits. Besides the repetitive entries for the purchase of steel, building repairs, and utility payments, a cursory inspection turned up interesting entries for a "payment for decorating the head of a bass drum for Colt's Armory Band", an order for fifty revolvers at $12.00 each on behalf of New York's Board of Water Supply, a cryptic entry for $16.65 marked "Luger suit" and a June 26, 1908 entry ledgering the final payment received from Major John T. Thompson (inventor of the famous Thompson submachine gun) on behalf of the U.S. government for guns delivered 5/29/08 to order of Vickers Sons & Maxim. The latter entry must surely refer to Colt's production of 197 Model of 1904 Vickers in .30-06 caliber for the U.S. government. Certainly further research will uncover scores of additional such entries and this ledger will not only appeal to the Colt collector, but to serious firearms researchers as well. The large ledger has well-worn covers and the spine and hinges are slightly tender. The pages are slightly cockled but the entries are still legible. Extremely scarce.
