Mauser Broomhandle Model 1896 Chinese Export Pistol and Holster. Caliber 7.63. Serial Number 378167. An all-matching wartime commercial model with the new safety marking on the back of the hammer and sights graduated to 1000 (minus the 900). The frame and barrel display a flat gray phosphate (or similar) finish over some areas of light pitting. The bolt, hammer, and trigger are blued. The proper Waffenfabrik Mauser logo appears on the right side of the frame and top of barrel. Considering the typical Chinese refinishing practice, this pistol is quite nice with an excellent bore and undamaged wooden grips. The brown leather holster appears rather crudely hand made with a short flap and buckle. The holster is rather worn with a split in the leather as a result of the front sight, otherwise it makes an appropriate mate to the pistol.
