Large WWI DH.4-B Propeller Hub With Art Deco Style Clock. With a style evocative of the 1920s, this large prop hub clock measures 30" wide, 13 ½" tall (on the base), and has a hub thickness of 7". The hub retains the original production data which is stamped on the top edge: "AIRPLANE DH.4-B / 9.TND R.P.M. 1420 / ENG. U.S.A. 12A / PART NO 87598 / A.C. NO. 29.742". The laminated wood has a warm dark patina and is set upon a base made from an aluminum aircraft piston. The clock is approximately 9 ½" in diameter and has art deco style numerals. There is no maker mark on the clock and the mechanism is untested. The DH.4 was a British design but due to the lack of suitable aircraft designs, the U.S. set up production and manufactured versions for the Air Service, hence this U.S. produced hub. The hub is in excellent condition and would make a great addition to the "war room". From the collection of Dr. Douglas Harman.

    Estimate: $700 - up.
