Imperial German Württemberg Veterans' Association Banner, Circa 1905. 56" x 57". Fully embroidered on silk. An exquisitely hand-embroidered banner featuring the royal arms of Württemberg as the central motif set atop a scarlet and black silk background. "Krieger Verein" appears above the royal arms, with the dates 1892 and 1905 appearing on either side. Below the arms is embroidered "Oggenhausen", the village where the veteran's association was located. On scrolls in each corner is separately embroidered "Die gut Württemberg Allweg". The flag is liberally decorated with oak leaves and gold fringe is applied to three sides with a channel for a pole to facilitate display on the fourth side. The hanging side is offset to allow the royal arms to hang vertically. There are some minor areas of fraying and splitting to the silk, otherwise the banner is in fine condition. A beautiful work of art which would complement the other extraordinary example in this current auction.
