    Description

Imperial German Naval Officer's Saber Manufactured by Weyersberg, Solingen. A solid example of this attractive model featuring a 31¾" slightly curved bright blade engraved with patriotic and nautical vignettes and adorned with additional floral decoration. The brass lion's head pommel is beautifully detailed and both the inset glass eyes - red for port, green for starboard - are still firmly in place. A detailed brass "D" guard extends from the lion's mouth to the hinged clamshell cross guards. The obverse guard features a highly detailed fouled anchor and Imperial crown. The smaller reverse hinged guard is designed to lock the sword firmly in the scabbard. The ivory grip retains the original wire wrap. The leather scabbard has an engraved brass throat, central fitting and drag. This is a collector-grade sword, complete, apparently little used, and in excellent condition.
