Give Or We Perish 30"x 22" Artist: W.T. Benda. Printed for the American Committee for Relief in the Near East. This organization started out its life being called the Near East Relief; it was an American charity that was organized in response to the Armenian genocide. It was renamed the American Committee for Relief in the Near East in 1918, and would exist until 1930. Statistics show that the Committee administered $117,000,000 of assistance. It delivered food, clothing, and materials for shelter by the shipload to war torn communities in Europe. It was said that this philanthropic organization "quite literally kept an entire nation alive." World War I caused violent upheavals in what was the Ottoman Empire' leaving many Near Eastern peoples homeless and destitute. Organizations like this one helped to keep those nations going and thriving to recover into the countries they are today. This lot features a fantastic picture of a foreign girl rendered in dark and somber charcoal. A great piece for a wonderful cause!!

Condition- Good; cockling from severe fold memory, major wear on edges from rollings storage, hole in lower quadrant, adhesive stickers on back need removal.
