    Description

Four Pieces of Historic Aircraft Fabric From the Collection of the National Air and Space Museum. Each fabric sample measures approximately 2" x 2", mounted on a 15" x 20" backing with an illustration and printed caption describing the aircraft. The examples include fabric from German Albatross D.Va No. 7161/17 and Fokker D-VII "U.10" (this example includes a contemporary photograph of the aircraft at the time of its capture). The lot also includes fabric from the Wright "Vin Fiz" which made the first U.S. transcontinental flight, and a piece of fabric from the Douglas World Cruiser #2 "Chicago", the flag plane of the first round-the-world flight. These original pieces of fabric were salvaged and sold to fund the cost of restoring these historic aircraft. All examples in very good condition. From the collection of Dr. Douglas Harman.
