    Description

Fantastic WWI German Glass Stein With Pewter Iron Cross Lid. 8½" tall. A beautiful glass stein captioned "Weltkrieg" above the oval portrait of what appears to be a general officer, and "1914/16" below. Simple blue rules of an arts and crafts style frame the portrait and caption. In the upper right corner of the frame there is an Iron Cross, in the left a Red Cross. The base has a black/white/red border. The stein has a rampant lion pewter thumb lift and pewter lid with a raised Iron Cross. The lid is engraved "Gew. v. D. Taufpatin z. Firmung" (perhaps a confirmation gift from a Godmother). The glass displays a few trivial scuffs but there are no chips and the decoration is unaffected. Excellent condition.
