Extraordinarily Detailed Relief Plaque of Otto von Bismarck. Patinated brass. 17¾" in diameter. Struck in relief, a portrait of Bismarck, the "Iron Chancellor", in his military finery. The plaque has been constructed to accept elements to enhance the three-dimensional effect of the portrait. His general's shoulder board and the front and rear visor, eagle front plate, chin scale, cockade, rosette, and fluted spike of his kurassier's helmet have all been separately applied. And, perhaps the most impressive element is the Pour le Mérite cast separately and suspended from a loop at the old gentleman's neck. Other than some scattered streaking to the patinated finish of the background, the impressive plaque remains in fine condition.
