Exceptional WWI Imperial German Memorial to Fallen Comrades Made From a Propeller Hub. This artfully executed memorial is constructed from a 10" x 9" x 7" laminated wood propeller hub. The propeller is obviously German as it is stamped "Berlin" and stamped with other, unidentified nomenclature numbers. The front of the memorial is hand-carved with the names of seven killed comrades. Beneath a carved Iron Cross the caption reads: "Den Heldentod für's Vaterland und für uns starben die lieben Bundesbrüder" (roughly: Died a hero for his country and for us their brothers). The names of the seven men are carved on front, and after each name a brief note gives the location or circumstance of his death, e.g., "Verdun", "Somme", "Offensive 1918". One of the fallen was killed by "Proppellerschlag", or propeller strike. The list concludes with "Ehre Ihrem Andenken!" (honor their memory). The reverse side includes the name of nine other men all with unknown abbreviations after their names. This memorial was presumably used as a center piece on a "stammtisch", or regulars table, as the reverse is also carved with the inscription "A. H. Stammtisch Danzig, 12.7.18". The right end of the hub is gilded and ornately carved with a unidentified monogram; the left side has a gilt/light blue/black shield, possibly with West Prussian origins. A most handsome decorative memorial worthy of further research Fine condition. From the collection of Dr. Douglas Harman.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
