Exceptional Bronze Statue of an Imperial German WWI Period Flag Bearer. This unsigned bronze is 15¼" tall, 18" overall on the unpolished granite base. A beautiful bronze featuring a German officer holding his regiment's standard defiantly aloft as he urges his men to follow him into battle. The detail is superb and you can clearly see the officer's equipment on his belt which includes a binocular case and pistol holster. In his left hand he clutches his sword, also executed with great attention to detail, with the sword knot and hangers clearly visible. Finally, the details of his uniform including officers' shoulder boards, leather leggings, and spiked helmet are expertly rendered. An excellent example of Imperial-era patriotic art in fine condition.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
