Don't Let Up (Lot of 4) 21" x 14" Artist: F. Luis Mora. Printed by the United Food Administration. A fantastically violent poster which is rare during this era! This poster depicts a soldier standing over an injured Hun, presumably about to kick him back to the earth if he attempts to stand again. The message is the same, Do Not Let Up! Keep saving, keep rationing, keep tightening the belt, and keep donating all you can; the military will do the same to the Huns! One interesting thing to note is the German soldier's helmet. Many people wonder what this strange design was called. It is called the pickelhaube; from the compounding of the word pickel meaning point and haube meaning hat or bonnet! The spike is said to have been implemented to protect infantry against sabre blows by cavalry. In 1914 after Germany entered the war, there was a large increase in industry and there was a severe shortage of leather for manufacturing helmets and other items. So the Germans began making helmets out of extra material, so the felt Pickelhaube was born! One can almost see the United States soldiers picking the German soldier off the ground by his spike! A great image, "grab" a hold of it today!

Condition-Poster 1-Superior; excellent! - Poster 2- Superior; impeccable! Poster 3-Good; severe tear on upper edge, edges show normal wear from rolling/storage, dirt stains and residue on lower edge. Poster 4-Fine; cockling from severe fold memory, normal wear on edges from rolling/storage.
