Complete ID'd Full Dress M1903 Uniform for Rhode Island Colonel of Artillery. The uniformed belonged to Lt. Col. Arthur W. Barret, Bristol Train of Artillery, and is accompanied by his 15" x 19" commission from the Governor of Rhode Island dated 1900 and signed by Governor Elisha Dyer. Commission in perfect condition in the original cardboard mailing tube from the state of Rhode Island. Cut away front double breasted coat of finest quality black wool with silk turn backs on collar. "Great Seal" buttons with four on front and two on each tail. Black silk body and tail lining with white silk lining in the sleeves. Very heavy gold bullion shoulder knots with Great Seal buttons. Five 1/8" bands of gold bullion quatrefoil on each sleeve, with separately affixed crossed cannons. Coat is overall in about perfect condition. Black wool trousers also about perfect with just a couple of tiny repaired holes and the original suspenders. White cotton short with heavily starched front, collar and cuffs. Interestingly the shirt is embroidered on the one sleeve "C A W Jr." Shirt with a couple of scattered holes and tear at the collar but good sound condition. The visored hat with a separate period tag identifying it to Barret, with heavy gold bullion oak leaves and acorns on the visor, ¾" red silk band bordered by ½" gold bullion tape top and bottom. Gold bullion chinstrap with Great Seal buttons. The state seal of Rhode Island is embroidered in gold bullion on the front. Silver stamped logo of Harding, Boston on the crown of the black silk lining. Hat overall about mint. An attractive and impressive uniform and actually generically quite scarce.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
