    [Col. Herbert Slocum]: 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition Silver Equestrian Loving Cup Trophy. 17.5" tall Art Deco-style two-handled loving cup issued in conjunction with the P.P.I.E. held in San Francisco in 1915. It has the logo of the expo at top and is inscribed: "1st Prize/ Heavyweight Hunter and Jumper Class/ Won By/ Monterey/ Owned by/ Col. Herbert J. Slocum. 13. Cavalry/ Ridden by/ Capt. Barry N. Cootes. 13. Cavalry./ October 1, 1915". Stamped Sterling with the name of the maker, Shreve & Co. of San Francisco. Holds 5 1/2 pints. Excellent condition. Col Slocum joined the 7th Cavalry after leaving West Point in 1876 and would serve a long and distinguished career in the military.
