    Description

    Victorian British Army Officer's 1847 pattern Parade Helmet from the 4th (Royal Irish) Dragoon Guards, c. 1860. The Victorian "Albert" pattern helmet is in gilt metal with fire-gilt metal fittings, including a large helmet-plate bearing a hobnail star in white metal, the gilt oval Garter center inscribed with regimental title and "VR" cypher. The leather-backed link chin-chain is secured by rose bosses. The silk and velvet liner is intact. The helmet has a drooping white horsehair plume topped by a small rose finial. Excellent condition.
