    Very Fine Jenks - Remington .54 Caliber Percussion " Mule Ear " Tape Primed Carbine 24 1/2" browned round barrel about mint with all original lacquer brown, just some very sparse light surface rust, easily cleaned for 7" toward the muzzle. Bright sharp bore. Lock and breech lever with nice case colors. Lockplate stamped Remington's Herkimer N.Y. and features distinctive Maynard tape primer mechanism, strong crisp action, breech with standard Jenks USN marks and date 1847. Excellent brass mountings with nice mellow patina. Walnut stock excellent with a few minor dents, very good inspector's cartouche. With production of about 1000 guns a very rare firearm in this superb condition.
