Very Fine Cased Colt M1851 .36 Caliber Percussion Navy Revolver, #165910 Matching, with New York Address and English Proofs. A very rare gun manufactured in late 1863. Gun retains 98% of the bright blue and case colors. Perfect cylinder scene, serial numbers on barrel housing, frame, trigger guard and backstrap all bear L suffix, likely for London. English proofs at the back of the cylinder at each chamber, and on the left side of the barrel lug. The iron straps retain 60% of the original nickel, the balance a smooth brown patina. Mechanically perfect, mint bore, crisp markings. Grips with dark patina and a number of small dents with what appears to be the original varnish. Case lined with green wool felt, excellent with paper lable with loading/cleaning instructions in the lid. Case with mint bullet mould, oiler, tin of Eley caps and very fine copper bag shaped flask, marked James Dixon & Sons Sheffield, with much of the original varnish, blued spring, and just a few small dents. Oak casing with circular brass escutcheon on top and at the keyhole. Burned on the top lid in 1/2' block letters "Property Of / Colt Firearms / Pimlico Factory / London". Case excellent overall with just a few dents/nicks. Nice original casing of a very fine and very scarce Colt.
