    U.S. Model 1808 .69 Caliber Flintlock Musket, T. French, Canton Ma., 1809 Gun measures 52" overall with a 36 3/4" barrel marked at breech with Eaglehead "CT" and "U.S". Lock is marked with an Eagle clutching "US" in an oval panel, over "Canton" in front of the hammer and "French 1809" behind the hammer, working action. Metal is mixed smooth gray / dark with areas of minor surface roughness and pitting. Wood exhibits wear with carved initials, scattered dents and evidence of a forward facing band spring at the center band.
