Unique 93rd Pennsylvania Veteran Volunteer Infantry Medal and Ribbon. Appears to be immediately post war and certainly no later than 1870. ½" x 2¼" silvered bar at the top with T-bar pinback, engraved 93d Reg. Pa. Vet. Vol. from which is suspended a 6th Corps badge with engraved leaves between the arms and inscribed 1st Brig/ 3rd Brig/ 2d Div./ 3rd Div., the cross being bordered with red enamel. Without the accompanying ribbon one would certainly assume that the badge itself is, in fact, period. The underlying 3" x 9½" blue silk ribbon is embossed in gilt at the top 93d Pa. Vet. Vol. with a 6th Corps badge and the date of the regiment's muster, October 28, 1861. The ribbon then lists all the battles in which the regiment participated, with accompanying dates, and the regiment's muster out date, June 27, 1865. The regiment was heavily fought throughout the war, losing 172 men killed and mortally wounded. Bordered at the bottom with gilt bullion tape with a gilt bullion tassel. Excellent sound condition, just some minor edge wear and a touch of fraying where the ribbon is attached to the medal. Certainly one of the most impressive Civil War veteran's pieces we've encountered.
