    Description

Tell That to the Marines (Lot of 3) 40" x 29" Artist: James Montgomery Flagg. Flagg produced over 46 posters during World War I and World War II. His Uncle Sam, "I Want You" poster is possibly one of the most recognized and famous images ever produced. This poster actually turned an negative phrase around to a positive. People would jokingly remark "Tell that to the Marines" citing their penchant for believing tall tales (which likely originated in the British Navy). Flagg took this phrase and turned it into an image which depicts a man, outraged by reading a newspaper, ripping off his jacket to go enlist in the fight. A powerful image, by a powerful artist. A great buy.

    Condition:
Poster 1-Fine; some minor tears, cockling from fold memory, some severe creasing. Will still present very nicely once laid out and framed!
Poster 2- Fine- minor tear on top edge, cockling from fold memory. Very Nice!
Poster 3- Superior- cockling from fold memory. Super!

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
