Sixth Plate Tintype of A. A. Goulsby, Hawkins Co. 2d Arkansas Mounted Rifles. A somewhat bedraggled Goulsby wears classic Confederate battle shirt opened exposing white shirt underneath. Breast pockets on the battle shirt stuffed with what appear to be letters and a diary. Neatly scratched on the back of the plate "Abe Goulsby Memphis Tenn. 1864" Some minor discoloration and one chip in upper left quadrant else very fine, in nice geometric/floral leather case. The 2d Arkansas was originally deployed against the Creek Indians, and subsequently at actions such as Pea Ridge, Chickamauga, Resaca, Atlanta, Franklin and many others. The regiment surrendered with Johnston April 26, 1865. A very rare Civil War image.
