    Silver 2nd Army Corps Identification Badge.
    Unusually large 1.75" x 2" coin silver brooch in the shape of a three-leaf clover, neatly engraved "Capt. J. M. McGowan Co. E N. Y. 152 Regt. Vol." The center is also engraved in the center with a three-leaf clover. Made by Deuber with their hallmark, stamp and registration number on verso. One of the nicer examples we have seen. Sold together with an 1888 book by Henry Roback titled "History of the 152d New York Volunteers". McGovern is referenced on page 177 of the book, as a survivor of the war and a resident of Litchfield, New York. The 152nd New York fought at Mine Run, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, the Appomattox Campaign, and others.
