    Description

Sharps M1874 .40 Cal. Sporting Rifle #155423. Very nice untouched example. All metal smooth and gray, just some minor scattered salt and peppering and a few minor dents on the breech block, negligible. Fine markings, mechanically perfect, excellent bore. 24" octagon to round barrel, adjustable double set triggers. Complete and original in every respect with no repairs or restoration. Wood also excellent with just some smooth even wear, untouched. There is a 3½" x ¼" sliver missing along the right side of the forestock at the receiver, Obviously very old with the edges now worn smooth, easily restored. A nice honest example of one of the earliest of the Sharps rifles that found favor with American hunters across the plains in the era of westward expansion.
