    Scarce Civil War Sharps and Hankins Model 1861 .52 Caliber Navy Rifle Serial #54 One of the scarcest Civil War shoulder weapons, used by both the Sailors and Marines. Breech loading arm utilizing a. 542 caliber Rimfire cartridge, fitted for saber bayonet with bayonet lug under the barrel. Metal surfaces of the gun are cleaned bright / gray mixed with areas of dark staining and pitting. Markings are clear, serial numbered on upper tang #54. Mechanically excellent with strong action. Butt stock exhibits a few minor dents and small areas of fill at the butt plate tang. Forestock displays minor scattered dents and small areas of fill at the band springs. The rear band screw is missing.
