Unique 18th Century European F/L Dbl Bbl Pocket Pistol. 6½" overall with 1¾" .40 caliber screw barrels cut with star motif on the face of the muzzle to facilitate removal. Barrels numbered 3 and 4 with corresponding numbers on breech. The left side of the breech also exhibits a Belgian proof. Folding triggers, sliding safety, mechanically perfect. One side of the frame is exquisitely engraved with a dog/ wolf, while the other side exhibits what appears to be an antlerless deer. Underside of the frame and folding triggers also decoratively engraved. Large bag shaped grip carved with scales, with fan/ shell relief carved panels at the frame. The back of the grip is inlaid with a silver grapevine, with bunch of grapes in the center. Much of the silver wire is missing as well as five of the original twelve grape leaves. Most unusual decoration overall. All metal generally smooth and gray with just some scattered salt and peppering on the barrels. Fascinating little gun.
