    Perez Morton Revolutionary War Military Appointment Document Signed as Deputy Secretary of the Council of the Colony of Massachusetts Bay. One page, partially printed, 16" x 13", Watertown, March 25, 1776, with large Massachusetts seal attached, uniformly toned with darker stains along the top edge, some staining to text, splits in the folds, and with taped reinforcements to the creases on the verso, else very good condition.

    This document appoints John Gulliver "second Lieutenant of the Eighth Company whereof John Bradley is Captain of the Third Regiment of Militia in the County of Suffolk whereof Benjamin Gill, Esq. is Colonel". In addition to Morton's signature, the signatures of fifteen members of the Council appear along the left edge of the document. Among the names are Caleb Cushing, Moses Gill, John Taylor, John Whitcomb and several others including the name "Winthrop".
