    Description

Pair of 18th Century All Steel Scottish Ram's Horn Butt F/L Belt Pistols 10¼" overall, the guns are unsigned. 6" .54 caliber smoothbore barrels which are fluted for 1¾" at the breech, then round, and terminating in a 1" flared octagonal section. All metal smooth and clean, near mint. All surfaces covered with scroll/ floral/ geometric engraving including the iconic Scottish thistle on both sides of the butt stock and at the wrist. Mechanically perfect. 3¾" long engraved steel belt hooks with mounting brackets exhibiting multiple piercings. Classic ram's horn butts with original vent picks. One gun with a flat faced hammer that appears to be a period replacement, fits perfectly with proper throw and doubtless repaired during the period of use. The other with a round faced hammer with the engraving style indicating it is indigenous to the gun. A wonderful pair of Scottish pistols and especially desirable with the engraved thistle motif.
