Mid 18th Century Middle European Military F/L Pistol. 18½" overall with 11 1/8" .75 caliber smoothbore octagon to round barrel. All iron mounted and all metal with deep dark patina with just some minor scattered old surface rust. There is a proof mark on the top flat at the breech of the barrel that appears to be possibly Austrian. Heavy unmarked lock curved across the bottom with two grooves cut at the back. Mechanically fine. Engraved line decoration engraved on the butt cap. Iron strip serves as the nose cap and there is no provision for a ramrod. Wood totally untouched with deep dark patina, one piece broken out at the front of the lock, obviously long ago, else overall excellent. A massive "working" pistol and possibly as early as the first quarter of the 18th century.
