Description

    Four Relics Related to the American Revolution from the American Revolution from the Collection of J. S. Reigert. Including: a piece of granite, 3" x 2", attached to a note card (partial) that reads, "Piece [of the Cell] / in which Major [Andre] / was confined during [the] / American Revolution / at Fort Putnam, West [Point], New York", affixed to the granite is a label, "Cell of / Major Andre / A.D. 1780"; a sealed glass bottle with four chips of gray granite and a printed card, "At the northern end of Central Park, near Eighth avenue, stands the old blockhouse. Originally built as one of a chain of local fortifications and outposts. It has come to be know as Fort Fireman"; a sealed bottle with soil from Fort Clinton, West Point, the bottle has two labels, one reads, "Earth from / Fort Clinton, / West Point / A.D. 1783", the other label reads, "Portion of / Original / Earth Works"; and, in another sealed bottle are several pieces of wood (the largest approximately 2" long). The bottle is labeled, "Part of the / Old / Gun Carriage / Used in 1783 / now at West Point."
