    C. 1775 British Lion Head Officer's Hanger. 26 1/2" curved blade with unstopped central fuller and narrow fuller along the top edge which extends to the 8" false edge. Blade with deep dark patina and just a few very small spots of old dark surface rust and salt and peppering. All brass hilt with D guard that splits at the bottom to form inboard and outboard branches. Nicely detailed, although a bit primitive, and very possible American, lion head pommel with capstan, which retains the original gilt in recessed areas. Deeply spiral carved horn grip with dark patina and one chip at the top, else excellent sound condition. There is a small brass ferrule with copper lip at the base of the grip. The ribbon like grip wrap is missing. There is no scabbard. Nice example of a classic form officer's hanger from the period of the American Revolution.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
