    Description

    Benjamin Lincoln and Elias Boudinot Signed Brevet Major Appointment. One partially-printed with blank integral, 8" x 12.75", Princeton, October 10, 1783. A document appointing "Christopher Marshall Esquire" to the rank of Major by Brevet in the U.S. Army. With blind embossed seal. Christopher Marshall remained in the army after the Revolutionary War. He is described in Alexander Hamilton's papers as being of "good constitution" and "having served with reputation" when recommended for an army appointment in December 1798.

    Condition: Flattened folds, lightly toned along edges, and small amount of foxing. On verso, small amount of soiling with mounting remnants.
