American Revolutionary War Period to Late 18th Century Fascine Knife. Although fascine knives regularly appear on the market, this is one of the few examples we've seen that we firmly believe to be American and of 18th century manufacture. 13 3/4" overall with 8 1/2" blade that is 2 1/4" at the widest point. Deeply sunk crude cartouche at the top of the blade GS. Blade overall with deep dark untouched patina, just some evidence of minor sharpening. Maple grip with bulbous pommel and 1" pinned hand forged iron ferrule at the top. The tang of the knife is simply bent over rather than peaned. Handle with rich patina, completely untouched. really an exceptional example of the 'machete' of the 18th century and an indispensable tool for 18th century military units.
