Description

18th Century Surgeon's Capital Bone Saw. Completely unmarked and very possibly American. All brass construction with 4" ebony plaque grips held in place with brass rivets. 14" overall, 8 1/4" blade 1" wide. Iron thumb screw for tightening the blade as well as another thumb screw to hold the blade in place. Elaborately configured bow typical of the mid 18th century. Overall excellent condition with just some scattered discoloration. A very rare saw from this early period and doubtless no later than the American Revolution.
