Regulation U.S. M1840 Medical Staff Officer's Sword And Wooden Field Box.
Medical Staff Officer's sword with original scabbard. Measures 36" in length, with the blade measuring 27" long. An English silver "MS" in clearly seen on the ornate shield standing for "Medical Staff". The blade has ornate etching going two thirds down. On one side it reads "U.S." and on the other "E Pluribus Unum". The blade is in beautiful condition save for the last 2" having some light rust. The scabbard is in excellent condition. With the sword comes a doctor's field box with the name "C. Mason, MD". We speculate that this could be Corodon Mason which served as an Asst. Surgeon with the US CT 32nd Infantry from 3/7/64 - 8/22/65. The box is in excellent condition as well.
